Fredrick Arnold was born on 28th August 1896 in Mitcham, Surrey. He was the eighth child of Walter Arnold and Elizabeth Arnold (nee Hooper).
On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. Fredrick Arnold was living at 14 Waterfall Road, Mitcham, Surrey. He was living with his father Walter Arnold and his step-mother Alice Arnold (nee Oliver) and his siblings, Sarah Bessie Arnold, Albert Edward Arnold, William Arnold, Henry Arnold and Rosie Arnold.
In 1917 Fredrick Arnold married Florence M. Steer in Wandsworth, Surrey.
